Paula Ashurst, R.N., P.A,
Physician Assistant Consultant

Paula is a Registered Nurse and Physician
Assistant with a wide knowledge base in both
practical and academic medical settings. After
a successful nursing career, Paula expanded
her knowledge and experience into the
practice of medicine after graduating at the top of her class from the University of Utah School of Medicine, Physician Assistant Program.

Over the past 25 years, Paula has developed and utilized her extensive clinical skills and experiences in the areas of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Diabetes and Endocrinology. In addition to clinical practice, Paula developed and ran a successful Diabetes Disease Management Program and was the Director of Disease Management for a Medicaid Insurance Plan. Prior to joining VDI full time, Paula was a didactic and clinical professor imparting her knowledge and experiences to Physician Assistants in training.

Paula had consulted with VDI since 2003 and has applied her talents and interest by working with VDI in medical record review and analysis and by supporting the professional staff in the practice area of life care planning.

In additional to her professional career, Paula is the mother of two and enjoys fine dining and cooking. She is particularly fond of Italian food and culture.
