Robert H. Taylor, M.A., L.P.C.,
C.R.C., C.D.M.S., C. L.C.P .
Robert H. Taylor is the founder and Chief
Executive
Officer of Vocational Diagnostics,
Inc. (VDI). Taylor
is an
internationally known
and respected authority
and expert
in vocational
rehabilitation, life care planning
and
forensic
economics.
Taylor has been involved in vocational rehabilitation,
life care planning and forensic economics for over 35 years.
As a Past-President of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals
(IARP), Taylor is recognized by colleagues as an industry leader.
Taylor's practice is diverse. An accomplished expert and clinician, he is as comfortable in a courtroom as he is on site visiting an employer to negotiate the return to work of an injured employee or in a counseling session to assist that person to adjust to their disability and locate other employment. His strong training in medical and psychological aspects of disability allows him to understand the impact of an injury and medical or psychological condition that impacts one's life.
As an expert in evaluating the earning capacity of individuals with disabilities and assessing their future care needs through development of a Life Care Plan, Taylor has been retained in thousands of cases, given over 700 depositions in his career and testified in over 100 jury trials (Federal Rule 26 Case Listing available upon request). He has also testified at arbitrations and is an active participant in mediations and settlement conferences on cases in which he is retained across the United States and abroad. He has been qualified in both federal and state courts as a forensic economist and, depending on the case, can perform present value calculations for presentation to the jury.
Taylor is well-published in vocational rehabilitation, life care planning and forensic economics and is the author of book chapters in these practice areas with other works that are in process. Taylor is also frequently retained in wrongful death cases to measure the earning capacity of the decedent and value of their economic losses.
Taylor and his team of experts specialize in complex case evaluation and have been retained in many cases where multiple plaintiffs (10 or more) have been injured; these cases required evaluation of the impact of their injuries on the plaintiffs' ability to work (Earning Capacity Evaluation) and development of a Life Care Plan for both surviving children and adults.
A frequent speaker at national and regional professional conferences, Taylor serves on the Education Committee of the Foundation for Life Care Planning Research and other committees with a number of professional organizations including IARP. He is also a frequent presenter at law firms, both plaintiff and defense, providing continuing education and training in the area of damages assessment in civil cases.
Expertise in catastrophic injury cases such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury amputations (including multiple/quadruple amputations) and multiple injury cases allows Taylor to tackle the most difficult case as well as those that are less complex, but require no less attention to detail in order to make the most credible presentation of damages.
Taylor is proud to have been asked to evaluate victims of the 9/11 attacks in New York City and prepare life care plans for presentation to the Victim Compensation Fund. This included an evaluation of a woman with over 85% total body surface area burns who reportedly received the highest award from the Special Master of the Victim Compensation Fund and whose compelling personal story after the attacks was captured in a bestseller written by her husband that has been translated into many foreign languages.
Both plaintiff and defense attorneys across the United States and abroad have retained Taylor for one simple reason: to get a credible, comprehensive evaluation that conforms to published standards of practice in Taylor's areas of expertise, (and those of his staff). As Taylor has said in more than one professional conference in which he has been a presenter, "We tell our referral source what they need to hear, not what they want to hear." For this reason, Taylor's practice is balanced and he is retained equally by both plaintiff and defense attorneys across the United States and abroad.
With its main office located in Phoenix, AZ, Taylor and VDI are able to handle cases in any part of the U.S. and abroad. The firm maintains satellite offices in northern Arizona and Boulder, CO. In addition, VDI professional staff can be found in other geographic areas and are thus able to use their expertise to identify local resources. Please contact VDI directly for further information: 602-285-0625
